American Voices 🇺🇸

We spent a lovely summer evening at Buckfast Abbey with some of our friends from the Hope Metropolitan Singers in Liverpool, musical director Matthew Searles, organist David Davies, and soprano Sophie-Dominique Waddie singing a wide range of music by American composers. As our concert date coincided with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it seemed appropriate to explore the music of American composers including Rorem, Whitacre and Paulus. David Davies also treated us to some wonderful variations on Ora Labora by Noble, and variations on The Star-Spangled Banner which was a treat which saw the Abbey's organ tested thoroughly to its limits!

Brent Singers takes our summer break now, returning to rehearsals in September to prepare for our Family Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday 5th December at St Petroc's Church, South Brent.
